The Boys Basketball team is on fire!  They have started the season 10-3, nearly matching last year's win total of 12. Impressively, three of those wins were against Group 4 schools (JP Stevens, Old Bridge, and Edison). The boys currently sit at 4-2 in the GMC Gold Division.

The boys are led in scoring by junior Cameron Hayes-Durina and senior Jason Woods. Both are averaging double digits in points and are also the team’s leading rebounders. The team has also gotten solid contributions from senior Danny Galligan, juniors Reece Osborn-Jones and Matt Smith, and sophomores Luis Vigo and Dennis Toth.

The key to the team's success is defense. In nine of their ten wins, they have held opponents to under 50 points. With this incredible display of teamwork, the Bulldogs will surely be a strong contender for the division title and a tough team to eliminate in the county and state tournaments.

Commenting on the team’s early season success, senior Danny Galligan said, “Our start has been great. We are exceeding the expectations that everyone set for us. We know that our team is special, and it was only a matter of time before the results of our hard work and effort started to show.”

Equally as impressive as the boys’ is the Girls Basketball team. The girls’ record is currently 11-3, including a 7-1 record in the tough GMC Blue Division. The team has had key victories over Sayreville, JP Stevens, and rival Highland Park. The team is led in scoring by junior Vicky Zaniecki and senior Kaitlyn Connors, both of whom have helped the team score over 60 points three times. The team has also gotten solid contributions from seniors Ava Barasch and Josie Gray, junior Lucie Pallotta, and sophomore Sammie Powers.

During a recent six-game winning streak, the defense stepped up and held opponents to under 20 points four different times. This team appears to be hitting their stride at the right time, making them a serious contender for the division title.

Commenting on the team's hot start, Coach Glutz said, “The Girls Basketball team is off to a strong start. I would attribute our success to a few things. First, teamwork. Our team is averaging over 15 assists per game. This group plays well together and is unselfish. Secondly, we are a strong defensive team. We put a lot of pressure on the ball, mix up our defensive sets, and keep teams off balance. Lastly, we focus on fundamentals. We try to take care of the little things and focus on details.”
