The Best Items (and Tips) for Your Next Bake Sale

Are you participating in a bake sale for one of your clubs, teams, or other school organizations? It can be hard to come up with the perfect bake sale item, but hopefully, this list will help you find the ideal item or, at the very least, inspiration for your next sale.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

A classic for bake sales, you can never go wrong with a chocolate chip cookie. The cookie by itself is already a popular, sweet, and easy-to-bake item that is both simple and delicious. However, if you are looking for more than your regular cookie, you can always add some other mix-ins to your recipe to make your cookies even better. Adding different types of chocolate chips, such as white chocolate or peppermint, is a fairly simple addition that can add the perfect twist. Small candies like M&Ms are also a great option. Or, you could make your additions a little more subtle with coconut flakes or orange zest. These cookies are always a classic, whether by themselves or with fun additions.

Bars

Whether it be lemon bars, pumpkin bars, or even oat bars, these bake sale items are fairly easy to make and definitely worth the time. Lemon bars can provide a much-needed tangy taste to an otherwise sweet treat, and pumpkin bars can add a seasonal twist to an already popular dessert. There are many different types of bars to choose from, and they’re sure to be the perfect grab-and-go snack your customers are looking for.

Scones and Muffins

These items are perfect for breakfast-themed sales where people might be looking for something a little less sweet. Perfect for versatility, a wide range of fruits and sweets can be added to these items; chocolate, cranberries, or even cheese could all go well. Scones and muffins are exactly what you need for an adaptable breakfast item.

Cupcakes

If you are looking for something that will let you truly express your creativity as a baker, cupcakes are the perfect item for you. There are many different flavors of cupcakes, and even more types of icing to put on top. You can add candy or Oreos on top and have the freedom to decorate them however you please. Because of this, your cupcakes are sure to catch the eyes of students walking by.

Sugar Cookies

As winter approaches, sugar cookies are the direction to go for a more seasonal item. The ability to bake the cookies into whatever shape you want, along with the fact that you can decorate them as you please, makes these cookies perfect for themed customization. Shapes of snowflakes and holiday lights are just a few possibilities for this unique bake sale item.

Additional Tips

As mentioned throughout the article already, don’t be afraid to express a little creativity through your baked goods. Adding a different ingredient could be exactly what your item needs to appeal to the customers. Decoration can also add a flair to your items that makes them pop. Even if you don’t have much baking experience, these items will still be perfect for you to make yourself.
