Preseason Outlook for MHS Winter Sports

The Boys Basketball team will start their season on Friday, December 15th at 6:00 PM at home against South River in a Blue Division rivalry match. The Bulldogs have lost four of the last five games against the Rams and look to start their season with a win. The boys will immediately follow this game with another at Highland Park High School on Saturday, December 16th, at 11:30 AM. Metuchen has won five of the last five games against the Owls with the most recent being a 56-37 win on January 26, 2022.


The Boys Swimming team will start their season on January 6th, at 9:00 AM with their In-Season Tournament. They will be facing off against East Brunswick, Hunterdon Central, St. Benedict’s, St. Joseph, West Windsor-Plainsboro South, Wilberforce, and Horace Mann. They will follow this with a meet at Union Catholic on January 11th at 7:15 PM.


The Girls Basketball will open their season on Friday, December 15th at South River at 5:30. The two teams faced off three times last season with the Bulldogs winning the first two during the regular season and South River taking the third, ending Metuchen’s season with a close 45-44 loss. This game will be followed by the girls’ home opener against Blue Division rival, J.P. Stevens High School. Metuchen and J.P. Stevens have each won two of the last four games against each other.


Girl’s swimming started off strong with a 59-33 win at Mother Seton. The Bulldogs placed first in every event except for the 400 FR. They will look to continue this success as the season progresses.


The wrestling team began their season with a 44-24 victory over North Plainfield. The team won 9 of the 14 matches. They will look to continue this success at the Mike Dessino Invitational on Saturday, December 15th and at Highland Park on December 20th at 5 PM.
