As of September 27, 2024, the Metuchen High School Field Hockey team has ended the first half of their season with a record of 7-4. All of their seven wins so far have been shutouts, where the team they are playing against doesn't score a goal throughout the game. The MHS Field Hockey team had their latest win against Cranford this past Friday with a score of 1-0. Senior forward, Evy Orozco was able to score the game-winning goal in the last minutes of the fourth quarter.
Speaking of the senior players, Metuchen has four different players from the Class of 2025 as the statewide stat leaders for both goals and assists for this season. From September 24, 2024, NJ.com has named MHS forwards Evy Orozco and Kaya Gredzinski and midfielder Elie Lopez as top leaders for goals throughout the state. Evy Orozco has a total of seven, and Kaya Gredzinski and Elie Lopez are tied with six goals. For the top assists in the state, forward Evy Orozco has six assists, and midfielders Brooke Kowalski and Elie Lopez are tied with a total of 4 assists. Other notable performances include seniors Ava Barasch and twins Brooke and Ali Kowalski with four goals each this season.
Out of the 15 seniors on the team, four of them have verbally committed to further their education and field hockey careers in college. Elie Lopez committed to play for Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania, Evy Orozco committed to The College of New Jersey, and twins Brooke and Ali Kowalski have both committed to the University of New Haven in Connecticut. The girls had a great senior night with all 15 senior players, as well as
their two senior managers, recognized. They played an amazing match against South Brunswick, pulling off a big win with a score of 8-0.
