Metuchen Pizza Chronicles

Issue 1: La Rosa

In the town of Metuchen, there are so many amazing restaurants with all different kinds of cuisines. Although, it seems like there are more pizza places than anything else in town. There is La Rosa, Joey D’s, L and L, Che Pizza, and more.They are well known throughout town, and when you ask anyone in Metuchen where to find the best slice of pizza, the responses are almost always different. I am going to take action and rate all of the pizza places in town myself. The thing is though, it is going to be a neutral rating. What I mean by that, is that I will get the same thing from every place: A slice of plain pizza, garlic knots, and a Sprite. The first place that I decided to try for this ranking is a town favorite: La Rosa. Here is how it went.

Walking in, it is a very nice atmosphere, and it isn’t a huge place. The service there is decent, and my food came out pretty quickly. Aside from the service, it is time to rate the food. Starting with the pizza. They give quite a large slice, but my big problem with it is that it is drowning in grease, and personally, I do not like that on a slice of pizza. Having to dab off a lot of it, it definitely loses points for that. The overall taste of the pizza was decent though. It was hot out of the oven, but not to the point where it is too hot to eat. Then the garlic knots, and I am personally not a big fan. They were absolutely drowned in garlic making them way too overpowering, and hard to eat because they actually almost burn in your mouth with how much garlic. Finally, the Sprite. It was normal, out of a bottle, and it was just a regular soda.

Overall, I was not generally impressed with the food at La Rosa, but just keep in mind that this is just my opinion and this is how it was when I went, it may be different for other people. Out of 10, I am going to give La Rosa a 4/10. The atmosphere of the place is nice, service was decent, but the food didn’t impress me overall.
