The Cure’s album cover for Songs of a Lost World.
Being their newest LP since 2008 (Dream), Songs of a Lost World by The Cure has been long overdue and has driven the band to modern stardom. Formed in 1976, The Cure is an alternative and gothic rock band based in Crawley, United Kingdom. In addition to their 1992 album, Wish, which reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Charts (including the hit song “Friday I’m in Love,” which won the European Viewer's Choice for Best Music Video at the MTV Video Music Awards), Songs of a Lost World has hit #4 on the Billboard Top 200.
Their new album is the second of the band’s discography to reach high rankings on the charts. The early success of this album has also allowed their Greatest Hits compilation from 2001 to reenter the field. Since Songs of a Lost World’s release on November 1st, it has been outselling their other albums (not including Wish) on vinyl and other physical mediums. With this, The Cure is experiencing a new wave of popularity from the younger generation, as in addition to previous fans from the 80s and 90s, new audiences are being introduced to their music.
