Mystic River

Lillian Kupersmit

The mystic river, a clairvoyant tale

A test to see who will flourish or fail

The current flows through you and brushes your sides

Stimulating a response, as you begin to slide

The various ponds offer new journeys

As to where you go, there’s no control or mercy

Indulgence and balance are how they are measured

To which priorities for some are merely pleasures

But as you continue looking deeper within the river

You’ll notice the further you go, your senses will further hinder

The mystic that was once so reflective

Has faded into one whose water is deceptive

But what you shall wonder and be reminded

Is that the water has not changed, rather you have been guided

To the deeper end of the transparent pool

Of which its transparency shows your truth to be cruel
